Lifelong learners

Discovered a few pointers from lifelong learners. I think keeping an open mind during this learning libraries has been very helpful to me.

My thoughts...

This is my brain after learning libraries...

It was a great experience participating in the Learning Libraries program. There were many fun and challenging excercises. I'd have to say of everything I enjoyed Utube and Flickr the most. This program has helped to broaden my knowledge of the internet and web 2.0 more than expected. I am still fuzzy on some topics. However, with practice I could see some of them becoming easier. I would enjoy participating in another discovery program in the future.

Netlibrary

Introduction to Netlibrary was interesting and helpful. Would be a great tool for those who enjoy talking books. I am more of a reader than a listener. I can see this being very helpful for those who cannot get out to their local library branch.

Forgotten: Play Week

Forgot to do my play week. Played on Flickr looking for a library/pug picture. This is my Monday morning feeling pic.

Podcasts

Explored some comedy podcasts on yahoo podcasts. It was fun to hear them. Would be great for the library to have this available for patrons to listen to talking books or even share their book or DVD reviews with other patrons.

Youtube

Played around on Youtube today. Mostly searched pug videos. It was fun. I can see the library having this so the patron could preview DVDs before borrowing them.

Web 2.0 Award list

Searched on Realtravel for hotel reservations in Atlantic City. It was very helpful and compared prices found on many sites. Would use for future travel plans.

Zoho writer

Read about online productivity tools. Seems like a good idea for users who don't want to mess with software.

Library 2.0 and the future.

I wasn't aware of the debate going on over Library 2.0. I thought we were just trying to keep up with society. We are just making our services more user friendly. Rather than the user always coming to us, so many more services are available online at home.

I enjoyed reading about a perspective on what Library 3.0 and 4.0 might be like. Sounds interesting to have my fav librarian list rather than fav book list. Also, sounds relaxing to be among the dream society with library 4.0. Moving along...

Technorati

Explored Technorati today. Added some fav blogs to my account. I am starting to understand why some people spend their whole day on the computer in the library. It's very easy to forget about time when there are so many new things to explore on the internet. Moving along...

Del.icio.us

Checked out del.icio.us today and learned about tags. Seems to be an easy to use system for organizing your fav. websites. Moving along...

Rollyo fun...

I created a searchroll on Rollyo for shopping. Also, added news and books & literature search rolls to my profile on Rollyo. It was fun to see what websites people have added on their search rolls. Seems like a good site to organize your fav. websites. Moving along...

Library Thing

I cataloged my list of book fav's on the LibraryThing. Interesting to see them all together. Well, moving along...

My First Avatar

I played around a little today and last week with Yahoo avatars. Seems strange yet fun to be doing all of this playing at work. I wish I would've had all of this knowledge when I was a kid. I would've been on the internet 24/7 . Guess it's never too late to start. Well, time to move along...

Flickr fun...

Well, I tried Flickr today. What fun... I loved to search through photos and explore the different copyright levels etc... It took me a while to realize that some photos cannot be posted due to their copyright status.

I think I 'm addicted... I can't stop now.
Move along....

Getting started is so hard...

Thanks to everyone for such a wonderful and informative day at the Tech Fair. Also, a special thanks to Zilpha for moving us along! You will be missed.

I can't seem to get in gear to start this blogging. I'm not much of a talker...
